Ri-Zo-Ma

In botany, rhizome refers to a type of stem that grows horizontally.

This is our aspiration: to be a cooperative that grows horizontally and organises itself in an organic, natural and democratic way.

Like the rhizome, we also want to be a support network, building a community that responds to basic needs in an economically, ecologically and socially just way.

Based in the Anjos neighbourhood of Lisbon, Rizoma is a multi-sector non-profit cooperative. Through community-based collective action, it is dedicated to building and promoting self-managed projects that strengthen a sustainable and inclusive economy, allowing for the active and equal participation of cooperators.

It is currently divided into six sections: Consumption, Culture, Housing, Agriculture, Services, Crafts and Commercialization.

Em botânica, chama-se rizoma a um tipo de caule que cresce horizontalmente.

Assim como o rizoma, também queremos ser uma rede de apoio, construindo uma comunidade que responde a necessidades básicas de forma económica, ecológica e socialmente justa.
